Come as you are:
Come here child, sit a spell
I really want you to do well
You hide from me, but you can’t go far
Don’t you know who you are
A child of God, the king, most high
Every now and then I try
To knock-knock-knock at your door
Don’t you want to feel peace once more
Like you did when you were small
Those were the days, now you’ve grown so tall
Once so tiny and full of faith-now I sit and watch and wait
Come on child do yourself this favor
Call on me-call on your savior
Clothed in white and wonderfully bread
I covered you with crimson red
Don’t you see to me you’re perfect, I died for you and you were worth it
You’re broken down, shamed and weary
I’m calling to you child-please hear me
This world has you sad empty and bruised
I know you’re tired of being used
I called you to do something more
You’re too distracted by Babylon's whore
The temptress of luxury-of pride-and of hate
Come on child, let’s have a date
Come back to my convenient tried and true
Can’t you feel my love for you
Air in your lungs day after day
Still yet you choose to go astray
Be in the world but never of it-for it will keep you trapped-trapped in a bucket
The lid sealed tight and only darkness
Come to me you broken hearted
Come to me my sweet child
I’ve missed you it’s been a while
Sit with me, you’re not too far
I don’t care about the stains
Come as you are
Let me cover you with my grace
Look up child, wash your face
No one’s too dirty to be made new
Don’t know that I love you
You are mine now and forever
Come here my child, we’re in this together
Would you be proud?
Would you be proud when you see me now?
Day after day wondering how?
How did you do it, how did you do it all?
Day after day, through the struggles I fall
Ups and downs and roundabouts
Sitting and wondering filled with doubts
Am I doing this right-this thing called life
Tribulations, trials, and hardened strife
You laid yours down so I could have mine
Unlike cats I don’t have-nine-
One-one, it’s an emergency-can’t you see
I needed you, you freed me
Out of the pits into your embrace
God I can’t wait to see your face
Would you be proud to know me or throw me aside,
from my shame I run and hide
Like Adam and Eve, I’ve betrayed you,
but each time to me you stayed true
Time and time and time again
I fall but you’ve cleaned every sin.
God I’m no good, but you are
You never let me stray too far
Thank you, Lord, for saving me, thank you for setting me free
Father God, on behalf of myself and my readers I'd like to say thank you. Thank you for the blood you shed on that cross, thank you for saving us when we get lost. You're a healer, savior, all the above, the only thing we have to give is love. Let us surrender our lives unto your will, the way you did for us up on that hill. We don't deserve you; this is true but the best part of us is you.
Lord, please allow each and every one of us to humble ourselves and submit onto you Father. Allow those of us who know you to spread your good news across the world and for those who haven't experienced your love to do so. May they have eyes to see and ears to listen in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, Amen!
